Now in its eleventh year, the Free Outdoor Fitness Class program run by the Department of Parks and Recreation is a summer highlight for Grand Rapids neighbors and visitors. For 16 weeks, a variety of fitness classes occur in local parks and are taught by experienced instructors. Classes range from yoga to high-energy options like HIGH Fitness and Zumba to strength focused classes like circuit training.

Whether you're looking to return to a favorite class this summer, get outside, or make new friends, Free Outdoor Fitness is a great way to enjoy summer in Grand Rapids.

Join GRPL for a family storytime at Mulick Park!  This event is suited for children ages 0 through 8 years old and is open to the public.  The event will be staged near the tennis courts - bring a blanket, sit down for a spell, and enjoy!

Dates:  Second Monday of the month May through August 2026.

Beacon Hill at Eastgate's summer concert series returns!  Bring your favorite lawn chair or picnic blanket, soak up the tunes of some of Grand Rapids' favorite musicians, and make some memories.  Food will be available from the Traveling Plate food truck from 5:30pm - 8pm.

Join the ECA and community partners to enjoy a relaxing bike ride through the vibrant streets of Eastown and surrounding neighborhoods.

The rides last around 45 minutes and cover about 4-5 miles at a relaxed, social pace. We’ll have free bike accessory giveaways, and every ride also includes a chance to win gift cards, bike bags, and other fun items. After the ride, join us for an optional dinner and community time at Harmony Brewing Company.

Join Commissioner Kelsey Perdue for Let’s Talk Third Ward, a monthly community briefing for anyone who wants to stay informed and stay connected to what’s happening in the Third Ward and across Grand Rapids.

These briefings typically take place online on the last Wednesday of each month and last just 30 minutes — a short, focused check-in designed to fit busy schedules.

This is a chance to hear directly from me about the work I’m doing on your behalf: what’s moving forward, what’s been challenging, and what decisions are coming next at City Hall. I share updates from my own perspective, including wins, setbacks, and how I’m working with community members, colleagues, and partners to make progress.

At each briefing, you’ll get:
